Ayuthaya...Day 3

It's the King's 79th birthday today! Everyone is wearing yellow t-shirts!

We hired bicycles again today. Rode through traffic jams to Wat Yai Chai-Mongkol which had a large chedi in memory of the King's victory over the Burmese. There were several Buddha images and a beautiful reclining Buddha. We walked into the chedi and there were heaps of bats on the ceiling.

Next we rode over to Wat Phanan Choeng, a temple with a huge Buddha inside, so big you can't even fit it in a photograph. It was absolutely packed inside, we think it's a public holiday because of the King's birthday.

Went back to the Malakor for lunch then went next door so Lorna could get a white mud massage, SO RELAXING!!!

Catching the 10+ hour bus to Chiang Mai tonight.
